She was born in Spartanburg on March 1, 1944, the daughter of the late Ralph Dennis and Beulah (Emery) Hicks and was a retired secretary.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony Dean Massey of Sumter, S.C., and Scott Massey of Campobello; a sister, Linda Hicks Cothran of Inman; a granddaughter; two step grandchildren; and longtime friend, Joe Everette. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Dean Massey.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 with Rev. Phil Bailey officiating.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Friday after the service at graveside. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at the Regional Hospice Home for the love and care extended to Brenda.
