Tryon Arts and Crafts (TAC)is having its first annual juried Arts & Crafts Fall Festival this weekend: Friday, Oct. 17, 4 – 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 19, noon – 5 p.m. The festival will be held rain or shine at 373 Harmon Field Road. The whole family is invited ‐ admission is free- with lots to enjoy for all ages.

The festival will include some of the finest artisans and craftspeople from the region exhibiting and selling one-of-a-kind handcrafted items. Craft demonstrations include pottery, weaving, blacksmithing, jewelry making and basket weaving featuring artists who teach at Tryon Arts and Crafts. Tours inside Tryon Arts and Crafts are scheduled for Saturday. If you have not been inside the facility lately, sign up to see the newly renovated Heritage Gallery in addition to our studios and gift shop.

You can snack on popcorn and candied apples or enjoy some &dquo;serious&dquo; food from local favorites, Mountain View BBQ and Giardini Wood-Fired Pizza. &bsp;

Entertainment will be going on all weekend featuring Phil & Gaye Johnson, Dixie Rhythm Aces, a Youth Showcase by the Tryon Fine Arts Center, Woody Cowan and much more. Children will have an opportunity to get their faces painted for free and to experience crafts like painting pumpkins and making wire sheep.

There will be an opportunity for the kids to get their hands into clay at TAC&39;s children&squo;s pottery demo and also search for rocks and stones with the lapidary studio.

At the Tryon Arts and Crafts Fall Festival, you can purchase a raffle ticket for an opportunity to challenge a local celebrity in the &dquo;Wii Challenge&dquo; held on Saturday. Ticket holders will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a Nintendo Wii⪚ to be given away on December 6 during our holiday open house.

Don&squo;t forget the pumpkin carving contest that&squo;s open to kids as well as adults, with prizes awarded for most creative in both age groups. Pumpkins will be available to purchase and carve on-site or bring your already carved pumpkin to enter the competition on Saturday with prizes awarded at 3pm.
