Born July 27, 1922, in Spartanburg she was the daughter of the late Jack L. and Mary Charlotte Heldman Gentry and the wife of the late Howard B. Bissell. A graduate of Spartanburg High School and Converse College, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Her favorite hobbies were golf and bridge.

Survivors include two sons, Howard L. Bissell of Spartanburg and Jerry B. Bissell of Campobello; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters,

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,

Oct. 15, 2008, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. William C. Adams. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc., 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.
