Mrs. Atkins was born May 27, 1921 to the late William Harrison and Lula Eliza Holden Fowler.

She was a faithful Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

As a faithful member of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, she spent her life teaching and serving wherever needed.

Mrs. Atkins was predeceased by her husband, Samuel David Atkins, and two brothers, Noble Fowler and Harry Fowler. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Henderson and Kaye Essey and husband Alan; and two sons, Burt Atkins and wife Carolyn and Rev. S. Martin Atkins and wife Marilyn; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Jackson and a brother, J.L. Fowler and wife Libby.

Funeral services will be held

at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 in the sanctuary of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, conducted by her son Rev. S. Martin Atkins and her grandson Rev. Brad Atkins.&bsp; Celebration with her friends and family will begin immediately following the service.
