He was born on Sept. 16, 1946 in Polk County.

He was the son of the late Grady and Willie Belle Keever Walker. He was a deacon for Berea Baptist Church, Palm Harbor, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Houser, in 1987.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons, Glenn (Melody) Walker of Palm Harbor, Fla., Charles (Kirsten) Walker of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Russell Walker of Largo, Fla.; three brothers, Kenneth Walker of Columbus, Garland Walker of Spartanburg, Horace Walker of Forest City; four sisters, Jane Skipper of Hendersonville, Nell Blanton of Rutherfordton, Elizabeth Powell and Joyce McCraw of Mill Spring; two grandchildren, Alvin Walker II and Victoria Walker.

A gathering was held Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 6-7 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church, with a memorial at 7 p.m. A visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 10-11 a.m. at Curlew Hills Funeral Home, with graveside service at 11 a.m.
