A native of Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Lewis and Florence Mace Sharp. He is also preceded in death by his wife Judith Anne Fisher. After receiving his B.S. degree from Penn State University, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for several years. Lewis was also a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church, and the Lion&squo;s Club of Columbus. He also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.

Surviving are his daughters, Barbara Geraghty of Indiana, and Susan Mitchell of Florida; step-sons, Marcus Iamurri and his wife Sarah Lambert of Tryon, Charles Iamurri and his wife Heather of West Virginia; step-daughters, Michelle Iamurri of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Erinn McClary and her husband Tim of Rock Hill, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Tryon Presbyterian Church.
