Alcie McAbee

She was born in Converse, S.C. on Oct. 16, 1920 and has been a resident of Polk County since a teenager. She was the daughter of the late Miles Guynn and Clara Bell Morrow O&squo;Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hicks Pinkney McAbee in 1993, baby son, Harvey Ronald McAbee in 1948, son, Craig Allen McAbee in 2006 and a daughter-in-law, Anna T. McAbee in 2007. Mrs. McAbee was a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church in Mill Spring.

Surviving are three daughters, Rachel M. Wilson (Wayne) and Mary Ellen Shehan of Tryon, and Elizabeth &dquo;Libby&dquo; Bailey (Kenneth) of Mill Spring; five sons, Richard P., Edward P., Marion H. &dquo;Bud&dquo;, Bobby F. (Judy) and Dennis J. McAbee all of Mill Spring; nine grandsons, nine granddaughters, 13 great-grandsons, eight great-granddaughters, one great-great grandson and two great-great granddaughters; one sister, Clara E. Edwards of Inman; one brother, William L. O&squo;Sullivan of Landrum.

She was a kind lady, loving mother, grandmother who loved the Lord. She was will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 in Mill Spring First Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Rev. Tony Priester and Rev. Dean Elliott officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery and friends are welcome to fellowship with the family following the burial.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wilson, Jason Wilson, Billy Mathews and Ricky Toms.
