There are so many wonderful events this weekend for every taste in art, music, theatre and literature I had to layout a time table to keep track of where I need to be. With a little planning you can bike, walk and carpool this weekend to catch the best of the bunch. On a budget? Most of these events are either very budget friendly or free. Tonight Sept. 25 7 p.m. Phil & Gaye Johnson of Green Creek welcome you to join them at the Albino Skunk Bluegrass Festival in Blue Ridge, SC located just south of Landrum and north of Greer off Hwy 14 (www.albinoskunk.com). The quality line up of Bluegrass and Americana music also includes Barrel House Mamas, The Belleville Outfit, and the Red Stick Ramblers. The festival runs Thur.-Sat. this weekend. 8 p.m. Tryon Little Theatre kicks off the 2008-2009 season with Steel Magnolias. Directed by Frances McCain this star studded cast of Susie Kocher, Cathy Millwood, Sam Lovelace, Shawna Reid, Mimi Alexander, and Jade Day Burdett celebrate the love and loss of these feisty Southern Ladies at Truvey&squo;s beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. Friday Sept. 26 5-8 p.m. Stop in for the lively opening reception of &uot;Colorscapes&uot; – Landscapes captured in photography, silk and paintings, and meet the artists David Watson, Dianne Postnieks, and Lee Holroyd at Simply Irresistible Gallery. &uot;Colorscapes&uot;&bsp;runs from September 26 through November 14. He and his wife are parents of two teens and a nine month old baby. The music and fun filled event will be at Saluda Mountain Jamboree (www.saludamountainjamboree.com).&bsp; Dinner starts at 6:30 and the entertainment starts at 8 p.m. Members of &dquo;Bevie and Bogart&dquo; join Bevie Walker, Rick Gundersen, David Reid, Pam McNeil and Michael Leyshon, plus Michael&squo;s group, Royal Groove, will complete the community effort to create a wide variety of music. 9 p.m. Blues guitar wizard Rickey Godfrey of Garfeel Ruff returns from Nashville for two intimate solo shows. Friday at Elmo&squo;s Too in Columbus and 9 p.m. Saturday at Elmo&squo;s in Tryon. Saturday Sept. 27 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 1 – 4 p.m. The Upstairs Artspace brings the Upstairs Art Roadshow to town at the Tryon Theater. Like TV&39;s popular &uot;Antiques Roadshow,&uot; the Art Roadshow offers&bsp;a wonderful&bsp;opportunity to&bsp;learn the value of paintings, prints, drawings and sculpture. Professional appraisers Sharon Campbell and Nowell Guffey will evaluate up to three pieces of art for a small fee providing a&bsp;numerical figure and provenance documentation. Current&bsp;members of the Upstairs can call 859-2828 to reserve a place in the line. The Upstairs Art Roadshow is a fund-raiser for the nonprofit art gallery and arts education center. 1-2 p.m. Polk County Columbus branch library invites you to come celebrate their new deck. There will be a Deck Party dedication with refreshments and music featuring Polk County&squo;s beloved Silver Bullets and Tryon&squo;s Wendi Loomis with The Dixie Rhythm Aces.&bsp; Come and help them celebrate with this free event. 3-5 p.m. Continue your afternoon with classic jazz from the Fred Whiskin Trio at the Hare & Hound in Landrum. 6:30 p.m. Don&squo;t miss the final concert of the 2008 Veteran&squo;s Park Series. The opening set will be performed by acoustic fingerstyle guitarist, and series coordinator Frank Beeson. At 8 p.m. New Orleans singer/songwriter Spencer Bohren (www.spencerbohren.com) weaves the best of the southern gospel, blues and folk traditions into an evening of storytelling and original music playing a variety of instruments. Sunday, Sept. 28 2:30 p.m. Music and Literature at Rogers Park (rain location Tryon Elementary auditorium) Featured speaker: Robert Morgan, author of &dquo;Boone&dquo; and &dquo;Gap Creek.&dquo; Best-selling author Robert Morgan will deliver a lively discussion about Together We Read&squo;s 2008 selection, &dquo;Boone.&dquo;&bsp;Tryon Little Theatre actor Mike Osteen sets the stage for Morgan with a portrayal of Boone and The Blue Ridge Rounders will play period music in a gala co-sponsored by the Friends of Polk County Library.&bsp;This foot-stomping music and literary fun is free for all ages. &bsp;
