He was born in Salem, Mass., and was a carpenter and construction worker.

Bob was the son of Claude and Helen Ganey Nelon of Lake Lure. In addition to his parents he is survived by brothers Claude Jr. of Hurricane, W.Va., David of Lake Lure, Richard of McKinney, Texas, and Patrick of Honolulu, Hawaii; and sisters Mary of Asheville and Suzanne of Rutherfordton.

He is predeceased by his brother Randy, grandparents Rufus and Annie Mae Conner Nelon and grandparents Michael and Ruth Bradstreet Ganey.

A private family memorial service will be held.
