District One Schools mourns loss of Landrum High student

Cole Quinn, a freshman at Landrum High, did not survive the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Cole&squo;s family and friends.&bsp; We also continue to pray for the other two students that were involved in the accident as they recover at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

School staff, counselors, and clergy were available at Landrum High School until 9 pm on Wednesday evening, September 17, 2008 for students, teachers, and friends wishing to gather. In addition, counselors, mental health professionals, and clergy were available for students, parents, and staff on Thursday, September 18 at Landrum High School.

Cole&39;s church, Motlow Creek Baptist Church, also opened their doors from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday to counsel with everyone in their church family and community to include all students from Landrum and Chapman High Schools. &bsp;

Counselors will continue to be available at Landrum High School on Friday, September 19.

At the request of the Quinn family, the Friday night football game will be played as scheduled. Some special activities, in memory of Cole and in honor of the other two students, are planned.

We understand that visitation has been scheduled for the Quinn family for Friday, September 19, 2008 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Petty Funeral Home and that funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20 at 1 p.m. at Landrum First Baptist Church.

The Spartanburg District One family will continue to do everything we can to help our students and staff during this difficult time.
