He was the son of Ruth Greene Reid and the late Pete Reid. He was a member of Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Owens Reid of Green Creek; three sons, Jeff Reid and his wife Kim of Inman, Jeremy Reid and his fianc´e Ashley of Green Creek and Justin Reid and his wife Summer of Cooley Springs; one brother, Steve Reid of Green Creek; two sisters, Wanda Cox of Green Creek and Donna Pittman of Columbus; two grandsons, Jordan Reid and J. Bentley Reid of Cooley Springs. He was pre-deceased by paternal grandparents Maude Carswell and John Reid and maternal grandparents Della Greene and Ed Greene, one granddaughter, Jayden Reid.&bsp;&bsp;&bsp;&bsp;&bsp;&bsp;&bsp; &bsp;

Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren, with the funeral service following at 5 p.m. with Rev. Earl Byers and Rev. Jimmy Cox officiating. Pallbearers will be Lionel Gilbert, Jesse Owens, Shawn Owens, Mickey Skipper, Greg Roddy, Mark Shytle, Nathan Cox, Trent Watson, Marsh Pittman, and Junior Owens. &bsp;

Interment will be held in Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
