Mrs. Harrison relocated to North Carolina with her late husband, Alfred, after a long working career with the U.S. Postal Service in New York. She was an active member of Wheat Creek Baptist Church in Polk County, and involved with the Western Carolina Home Extension, serving as president. She was also a member of the Order of Calanthes.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by her six children, Mari-Lynn Staton (Frederick) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Shirley Anne Carmicle (Randy) of Bronx, N.Y., Claudette King (John Wayne) of Charlotte, N.C.; Alfred, Jr. (Audrey) of Columbia, S.C.; David Lawrence (Maureen) of Hempstead, N.Y.; and Leslie Kay of Columbus; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Marietta Harrison Dorsey of Chicago, Ill., and Sarah Harrison McLendon (Jimmie Lee) of Newark, N.J., and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and great friends.

Quiet hour will be observed at the Alexander Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m., 1424 Statesville Road, Charlotte, N.C. Homegoing service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Wheat Creek Baptist Church in Polk County.
