&dquo;Since 1992 the district has grown by 1,600 students in 16 years which is why we built the new schools,&dquo; said Littlefield.

Despite this increase Landrum schools have seen small decreases at Landrum Middle School and O.P. Earle Elementary. &bsp;

Landrum Middle School&squo;s enrollment is down 34 students from 300 to 266.&bsp; O.P. Earle has also seen a decrease of 27 students down from 540 to 513.

According to Littlefield the decrease at the schools is just the matter of small classes coming through the school system. &bsp;

Littlefield also explained that it is the K5 through 12 that is up by 120 students, but enrollment is down in K4.

Most of the gains in enrollment can be seen at Mabry Middle School which had an increase of 59 students climbing from 423 to 482 and New Prospect Elementary which also gained 30 students and increased its student population from 386 to 416.

Landrum High School also saw a small increase and gained 13 students changing its numbers from 491 to 504.

Before the school year is over Littlefield expects to see the District increase by another 10 to 15 students.

&dquo;The trend is going to continue and we won&squo;t see it slowing down as the economy continues to improve,&dquo; he said.
