Virginia was born in Morganton, N.C. on Sept. 14, 1925 to Verna Warlick Branch and B. Jason Branch. She graduated from Morganton High School and attended Peace College in Raleigh, N.C., and Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. Both her parents and her sister, Aileen Branch Penny, preceded her in death.

In 1947 she married Joseph Alvin Wilson Jr. (Jay). They settled in Spartanburg in 1949 where they raised four children: Al, Pam, Rick and Phil. She supported her husband, Jay, as he built a family business, Wilson Equipment Company, that is now the John Deere dealership.

Virginia took great joy in homemaking for her family‐it was her life&squo;s work. She loved playing cards with her grandchildren, dying Easter eggs and spending family vacations camping in Montreat, N.C.

Virginia was an active church member in each of the communities where she lived, including Routh Memorial Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir and participated in the Women of the Church. Her most recent church membership was at First Presbyterian Church.

For many years she delivered meals for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg with her dear friend, June Griffin. Her hobbies included working outdoors planting flowers and fishing, collecting dolls and traveling with Jay.

Cherishing her memory and the love she had for her family is her husband of 60 years, Jay Wilson; her sons, her daughter, their spouses and grandchildren including Al of Spartanburg (wife Linda, son Josh and his wife Nicki of Columbia, S.C., and son Matt of New York City); Phil of Spartanburg (wife Allison and children McKenzie and Branch); Rick of Huntington, W.Va. (wife Sylvia and children Max of Huntington and Rachel of Raleigh, N.C.)

Virginia&squo;s family would like to thank Kathleen Wilson of Inman who was her close friend, companion and caregiver during the last five years of her life.

A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at

2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug 31 at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. David A. Renwick, the Rev. Dr. William L. Arthur, and the Rev. Dr. Richard Wilson.&bsp; A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the service in the Church Social Hall. Burial will be private.
