John Clary

Born in Cherokee County, S.C., Mr. Clary was a son of the late John Ellison and Lilly Keenan Clary. He was a WWII Army and Air Force veteran serving in the 34th Infantry Division, having been in three separate campaigns. He was a retired pharmacist, a former member of the Gaffney Civitan Club, a former member and deacon of Limestone Presbyterian Church of Gaffney and a current member and former elder of Philadelphia Presbyerian Church of Landrum. Mr Clary may be most recently remembered as the former owner of &dquo;Curiosity Corner.&dquo;
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Vaughn Clary, and two sisters, Margaret Johnson of Summerville, S.C., and Elizabeth &dquo;Libby&dquo; Cuomo of Charleston, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Clary was predeceased by brothers, James Harold and Paul Ray Clary; a half sister, Verna Blanton and half brothers, Alvin, Troy, Niles and Albert Clary.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 in Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney, with Rev. Dave Oliphant officiating with military honors by the S.C. State Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, N.C. 28722 or the charity of one&squo;s choice.
