Mr. Drake was born in Spartanburg on Oct. 30, 1948, the son of the late Paul Maxwell and Hattie B. (Turner) Drake. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church.

He is survived by four sisters, Mary Anner Brown of Inman, Geraldine Ford of Campobello, Janie Lou Dempsey of Inman, Shirley Blackwell of Lyman; two brothers, Billy Gene Drake of Inman, Jerry Drake of Duncan, and sister-in-law, Janie Emory of Lyman.

Funeral services were held at Little Mountain Baptist Church, Wellford, S.C., on Sunday,

Aug. 24, 2008 with Rev. Ansel Norris, Rev. Josh Phillips and Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial was in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

Seawright Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
