Formerly of Grafton and Milwaukee, Wis., since retirement three decades ago, she had been living amidst the mountains of North Carolina.

She was born Sept. 29, 1915 to Otto Kohlwey and Emma Behrens, who predeceased her, in Grafton. She graduated from St. Paul Lutheran School in Grafton, Milwaukee, Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Wis., and the Bureau of Home Nursing as an LPN. She served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a pharmacist mate second class. She married Dr. Clifford Hadleigh Kalb on December 14, 1963 and was married for 35 years. They worked together at Kalb Allergy Clinic in Milwaukee for at least 32 years. She attended Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville for many years and was a volunteer at St. Luke&squo;s Thrift Store for many years.

She is survived by two step-sons, Frank Kalb (Freida) of Milwaukee and Paul Kalb of Oconomowoc, Wis.; a step-daughter, Karen Springer (Allan) of Blaine, Tenn.; two brothers, Alfred Kohlwey (June) and Otto Kohlwey (Ruth) both of Grafton, Wis.; a sister, Emiline Ungrodt of Appleton, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Loraine Kohlwey of Jackson, Wis.; special friend, Lynn Bradshaw, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Clifford Kalb; sisters, Ruth Kohlwey Dehmel and Edna Kohlwey Prahl and brother, Reuel Kohlwey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Tryon.

The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 am Friday, Aug. 8 at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. An additional memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Tryon Estates in Columbus.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
