William Sanford

Born in Whitney, he was the husband of Pearl Rvenia Strickland Sanford and the son of the late William Fairdie Sanford and Bessie Pruitt Sanford. He was the owner/operator of Sanford and Holland Company, a mason and served in the United States Navy Reserve. Mr. Sanford was a member of Cooley Springs Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and usher. He was a loving husband, dad and granddad.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Timothy Mark Sanford of Green Creek and Jim Earl Sanford of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Sue Ann Sanford of the home; a brother, Herman Sanford&bsp; of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Sarah Griffin of Inman and Hazel Tipton and husband, Bill of Inman; six grandchildren, Shaun Sanford, Kyle Sanford, Wes Scruggs, Billy Scruggs and wife, Angie, Tammy Parker and Sara Sanford; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 at Cooley Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. David Kite officiating. Interment will be in the Cooley Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
