The wreck occurred just before 8 p.m. last Wednesday. Rescue workers reportedly cut the top of the Cadillac off to extract Wilkerson from the vehicle.

The driver of the Dodge truck was Nicholas Edwards, 19, of Columbus, who was traveling north on Hwy. 9 at the time of the collision, according to state trooper Harold McLean.

A reconstruction team has been investigating the collision. No other information about the cause of the wreck is currently available, and no charges have been filed yet, McLean said. The report is expected to be complete sometime next week.
