Roger Parker

Born in Quitman, Miss., he was the son of Lawrence R. Parker of Tryon and the late Faye McFarland Parker. He moved to Polk County in 2001, coming from Hattiesburg, Miss.. He was an employee of the Hendersonville Social Security Administration and was a member of the U. S. Army National Guard who had returned from a tour of duty in Iraq in May of 2007.

Surviving are: his wife, Charlene Overman Parker of the home; his father and step-mother, Lawrence R. and Terry Sayre Parker of Tryon; a stepson, Jesse Joseph Overman of Oak Island, N.C.; a step-daughter, Julia Elise Makenna Shaw of Saluda; and a sister, Tana Parker of Clyde, N..C.

3 p.m. Friday July 25, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Chaplain (CPT) Melissa Hale officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday just prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
