He was the son of the late Lyle Whiteside. He was a member of Cooper&squo;s Gap Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Whiteside; mother, Christa Whiteside of Mill Spring, one daughter; Ashley Whiteside of Tryon; one son, Jonathan Whiteside of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Stewart of Brevard, N.C; one brother, Stuart Whiteside of Colorado Springs, Colo. and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Son Rise Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at Son Rise Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, Rev. Bob Philbeck and Rev. Blaine Jones will be officiating.

Interment will be at Cooper&squo;s Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Mill Spring, N.C.
