Vertie Fitch

She was the wife of Herbert Fitch.

Mrs. Fitch was a native of Polk County and a daughter of the late Jimmy and Clara Mae Pettit Blackwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Jackson Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Randy Fitch of Green Creek, Kim Fitch of Lake Bowen, and Daniel Fitch of Campobello; daughters, Patricia Grigg of the home, Gaye Blackwell of Inman, Betty Beckley of Campobello, Darlene Lavender of Startex, S.C.; brothers, Dean Blackwell of Inman, Lad Blackwell of Boiling Springs and Jimmy Blackwell of Landrum; sisters, Lillian Scoggins of Campobello, Peggy Finch of Inman, Judy Wyatt of Chesnee, Linda Jolley of Green Creek and Faye Green of Landrum; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Jackson Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Bowers and Rev. Tommy Turner will officiate. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the home.

Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs is in charge of arrangements.
