A committee consisting of Phillip and Hilda Pleasants, Sue Wilson, Keith Collins, Rick Covil, Pam McNeil, Neb and Anna Conner has been meeting for a few weeks investigating the requirements for re-incorporating Lynn, a community to the northeast of Tryon along Hwy. 108.

Everyone brought a covered dish and lawn chair to hear a presentation on how the people of Mills River were able to form the Town of Mills River. &bsp;

The guest speaker was Mayor Roger Snyder, who was born in Henderson County and has lived in Mills River all of his life.

He told of the services the Town of Mills River provides and some of the issues residents confronted when preparing for incorporation. &bsp;

Several questions came from members of the audience who seemed very interested in pursuing incorporation for Lynn.

Many Lynn residents have voiced concerns about preserving their community after the Town of Tryon proposed annexing the area last year. After residents petitioned against the annexation, the town eventually dropped its annexation plan and pursued annexation of a new area focused around Gillette Woods.

Some Lynn residents have also raised concerns about Tryon&squo;s plans to extend water and sewer services through their community. Residents have said they are concerned that the town&squo;s plans could negatively impact the character of Lynn. The area is mostly residential, but includes a few commercial properties along Hwy. 108 and the Lynn Post Office next to the Hwy. 108 bridge over the Pacolet River.
