A native of Woodruff, he was the son of the late John Coy and Eunice C. Brown. He was a retired employee of Jeffrey Dresser after 33 years of service. He was a mason for over 50 years and the very first to go through the Cavins Lodge #226 and was also a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Coy S. Brown of Woodruff and Roger L. Brown of Jasper, Ga.; one sister, Mamie B. Atkins of Campobello; two granddaughters, one grandson, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Taylor and Rev. Clegg Taylor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Ave. Suite 300, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303 or Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, 13683 Highway 221, Enoree, S.C. 29335.
