Representing the Cavaliers in the marathon event were freshman Ben Hall, sophomores Wilbourn Kosgei and Arilicia Adkins, and junior Talisa Bishop. Hall and Adkins both finished the 26.2 mile hilly course under their goal time, and bringing home 19th place finishes. Hall’s 2:38.53 was the fastest freshman marathon time clocked at this year’s championship.
“Watching the race unfold, I can honestly say that there weren’t too many runners that finished as hard as he did, Montreat College track head coach Jose Larios said. He kept passing people all the way to the finish line. This performance is very impressive for a freshman, which tells me he will be a frontrunner in the AAC for the next few years. He watched the championships very closely, seeing what it takes to be an All-American. He has big goals, and I’m thrilled to work with such a humble and complete competitor.”
Hall says only, “I just wanted to honor God and give him all the glory. I ran this to honor Him.”
Hall ran cross country and long distances in track for the Polk County mens track team.
He graduated last year and signed a scholarship to run for Montreat College.
