Tryon Hounds equine arts show, sale Saturday evening

Art lovers, horse lovers and people who love horse art take note: the Tryon Hounds Equine Art Show and Sale will be held tomorrow at 6 p.m.at FENCE.

The first annual arts show and reception, sponsored by Hardee Homes and co-sponsored by Stone Soup, will feature more than 50 works of art from local and regional artists.

&dquo;All mediums will be exhibited for sale and many pieces are originals, said Trip Hoffman, chair of the art show and sale committee. &dquo;Water colors, oil on linens, acrylic paintings; clay, wood, bronze sculptures to custom bronze and copper farm lights; we have a huge array of spectacular art perfect for horse farms, horse people or just art lovers in general.&dquo;

Tickets to the event include the art exhibit, reception and a $10,000 Mini Prix and can be purchased at the Farm House and Old Carolina Designs in Landrum. Thirty percent of all art sold will be donated back to the Tryon Hounds. After the show, the exhibit will travel to Stone Soup in Landrum until July 18.

&dquo;Without the generous support of our local and regional artists this event would not be possible,&dquo; added Hoffman. &dquo;And many thanks to the Red Clover Gallery in Landrum for making the show a reality.&dquo;

The artists participating include: Charles Harpt, Nancy Pellatt, Ann Allen, Margy Davis, Betty Burdue, Bev Kies, S. Harris, Suzy Shealy, Rick Conn, Jill Silver, Theresa Reuter, Guntram Gersch, Linda Hudgins, Marie Christine, Elizabeth Sher, Richard Seaman, Amy Godstein&bsp; Rice, Rachel Berlinger, Joan Stone, Phyllis Allen Eifert, Sarah Holmberg, Shelley Dayton, Mike Gron, Karen White, Joan E. MacIntyre, Blair Martin, Kathleen Carson, Bill Crowell, Joe Cooper.&bsp; Works were also donated by Tryon Auction House and Architectural Warehouse.

Members of the Tryon Hounds Equine Art Show and Sale Committee are: Trip Hoffman, Jill Silver,&bsp; Rick Conn, Elizabeth Sher, Heidi Mendez, Suzanne Strickland, Celia Kudro, Alice Kraebber and Roberta and Michael Axelrod.

The Tryon Hounds Horse Show is an annual tradition that blends local and regional riders with some of the southeast&squo;s best show jumpers in a three day show that celebrates the area&squo;s equestrian heritage. The show this year will be held on Friday, June 20, Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 at the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE).

Highlights include a $10,000 Mini Prix on Saturday Night sponsored by Ken Feagin Truck and Trailer and Great American Insurance Group. The show jumping event will feature the best jumper riders in the southeast competing for a $10,000 purse.&bsp; The jumps at the Mini Prix level are fences from 4&squo;-4&squo;3&dquo; with spreads of 4&squo;3&dquo;- 4&squo;9&dquo;. The event will begin after the Tryon Parade of Hounds around 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
