Born in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Herschel and Katherine Davis Deal. She was the widow of Kenneth Schwab, who died in 2002. She moved to Tryon in 1981 from Canton. Mrs. Schwab volunteered with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, the Tryon Fine Arts Center and the Foothills Humane Society. She was a member and Trustee of the Tryon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: brother-in-laws David Schwab and wife Genevieve of Dover, Ohio, and Richard Schwab of Arizona; nephews, Jack Deal Jr. of Massillon, Ohio, David R. Schwab of Delaware, Ohio, and Thomas Schwab of Canton; and niece Patricia Hawkins of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Mrs. Schwab was preceded in death by a brother, Jack E. Deal Sr.
