The bats were blazing, the defense made spectacular grabs and Nick Jolley pitched lights out on the mound in his first start of the season.

Every Wolverine that came into the game Friday night got a hit in a 13-2 win over rival Hendersonville.

After a 1-2-3 first inning, the Wolverine bats came alive. Polk scored three runs in the second and third innings. In the second inning, Kamron Kerr had an RBI single and J.P. Ruth hit a bases-clearing triple, driving in two RBIs.

In the third inning, thirdbaseman Chris Montgomery walked to leadoff the inning. Lucas Cash followed with a single. Then, Tanner Yarboro jumped on an Adam Downey fastball and rocketed it over the fence in left-center.

Stott credits Yarboro&squo;s homerun for knocking the Bearcats out of their groove.

&dquo;We took them out of their game early and then we just kept adding to it,&dquo; Stott said. &dquo;We hit the ball well. We never&bsp; let them get into their game.&dquo;

In the fourth inning, Montgomery added two runs on a base-clearing double. In the fifth inning, Ethan Edwards added a run with a double.

Then in the sixth inning, Jolley had an RBI single. With no outs, left fielder Justus Burnett sent the first pitch he saw out of the park for a two-run shot to end the game.

And then there was the defense. Yarboro, Burnett and Kerr all made big grabs to help the Wolverine cause.

With all that help, Jolley took his first start of the season in stride. Usually the Wolverine closer, Jolley threw just 63 pitches and dominated the Hendersonville batters.

He pitched six groundouts and four strikeouts.

The Wolverines dominated all facets of the game on Friday and might have no matter who was in the other dugouts, Stott said.

&dquo;It was one of those nights,&dquo; Stott said. &dquo;It probably didn&squo;t matter who we were playing tonight, we were going to win.&dquo;
