William Powers

Born in Charleston on September 27, 1923, he was a son of the late Martin Thomas Sr. and Marguerite Persse Powers. Mr. Powers was retired from the State of South Carolina as an insurance examiner. He was a member of the Society of Financial Examiners, the University of South Carolina Alumni Association, and the Charleston Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Powers was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mr. Powers is survived by five children, Monica P. Goforth of Campobello, Teresa P. Casada of Lexington, S.C., William Michael &uot;Billy&uot; Powers of Inman, S.C., Timothy E. Powers and Tami A. Powers, both of Spartanburg; He was predeceased by three brothers, Martin T. Powers, Jr., Francis P. Powers, and Joseph M. Powers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, conducted by Reverend Michael McCafferty, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Winyah Hospice provided care and support to Mr. Powers.
