He is survived by his son, Neil Gordon, and his daughter-in-law, Sharon.

Don was born Feb. 17, 1927 in Perth, Scotland. He served in the RAF at the end of World War II, then emigrated with his wife Betty and his son to the U.S. to work as an aeronautical engineer. While at Grumman Aerospace, he worked on the lunar module project. After moving to Savannah in 1973 he helped develop the G II through V corporate jets for Grumman/Gulfstream. Don retired in 1993 to Landrum.

Don taught Sunday school at the Whitebluff United Methodist Church in Savannah and at Landrum United Methodist. He also worked at Operation Hope in Landrum.

A memorial service was held Sunday April 13 at Jackson Grove United Methodist Church.

The family requests that any donations be made to the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, N.C. 28722.
