Ruby Waters

Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ella Pintuff Owens. She was the widow of Willie Waters, who died in 1982. Mrs. Waters was an active member of Tryon Second Baptist Church, where she was involved in many of the church ministries. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was known for her fried apple pies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Larry Waters and daughter, Mary Smith.

Surviving are two sons, Ted Owens and wife, Elna of Columbus, and Charles Waters of Tryon; two daughters, Brenda Lewis and Polly White and husband Billy, both of Campobello; and one brother, Raymond &uot;Pee Wee&uot; Owens of Mill Spring. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Albert Teague and Dr. Dennis Jones officiating.

Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
