Howard Deck

He was a member of Green River Baptist Church and was employed by Burlington Industries for 37 years, and had been a rodeo clown from 1955-1957. Mr. Deck had a great love for the outdoors whether it was fishing or farming his land. He was always full of life and never met a stranger.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Roy Lee Deck and Ethyl Roddy Deck.

He is survived by his wife, Laura J. (Keller) Deck; stepdaughter Kathy Shehan of the home; son Robert Lee Deck of Blacksburg, S.C.; stepson, James Larry McClain of Blacks-burg, stepson Kevin Bullock of the home; stepson Jeff Edwards of Forest City; three brothers, Grover Deck of Tryon, James Deck and Henry Deck, both of Rutherfordton.

Arrangements are being handled by McMahan&squo;s Funeral Home Inc., Rutherfordton, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008. A graveside service will be held at Green River Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr. Columbus, N.C. 28722.
