Edney is the daughter of Debra and Johnny Edney, of Tryon.

She is a competitive gymnast for Foothills Gymnastics in Tryon. She is coached by Jana Williamson.

She finished third on vault with a score of 9.20 and fourth on beam with a score of 8.525.

She finished second on uneven bars with a score of 9.20. Her routine was accented with a dismount-layout salto with full twist. On floor exercise Alyssa finished third with a score 9.235.

The first time on the floor exercise she performed the new skill – front handspring, front layout, front tuck and she made it very successfully. She performed the new skill with a lot of power and amplitude, Williamson said.

Alyssa is so powerful and dynamic, she said.

Alyssa had an all around score of 36.150 and finished second in the all around judging.
