The Feed-A-Kid program, led by Thermal Belt Outreach, has reached its funding goal for the current semester.

School principals and counselors have identified 90 children who are receiving weekend food supplies. Participating schools include: Polk Central, Tryon Elementary, Sunny View Elementary, Polk Middle School and Polk High School. Food is delivered to the schools each Friday.

The Thermal Belt Outreach project is fully funded for the rest of this semester thanks to grants received from the Hunger Committee of the Western North Carolina Presbytery, MANNA Abundance and support from Kiwanis Club of Tryon, employees of Timken, Silver Creek Baptist Church, Green Creek Baptist Church, UMW of Columbus United Methodist Church and many individual donors.

The cost to provide food for one weekend is $300.

The Feed-a-Kid program will run through the end of this school year and resume next fall.
