He was the husband of Imogene Turner Carter of Campobello and the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Carter and Christy Gifford Carter. Mr. Carter was born in Willow Springs, Missouri, and retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one step-daughter, Kathy Fisher of Campobello; one brother, Roy Carter of Utah; and four grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at the M. J. &uot;Dolly&uot; Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by the Campbell Patriots American Legion.
