Born in Landrum, he was the son of the late Fred and Pearl Tucker Bruce.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Freeman Bruce of the home; four daughters, Sharon Sanders of Boiling Springs, Terri Waller of Savannah, Ga., Teresa Fowler and Penny Hudson, both of Gainesville, Ga.; and a son, John Bruce of Gainesville, Ga. Also surviving are one brother and five sisters. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a daughter, Roxanne Bruce.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.
