Joseph Jenkins

Mr. Jenkins was born in Union, S.C. July 12, 1919, a son of the late Robert Lee Jenkins and Nellie Fowler Jenkins. He was a graduate of Union High School and attended Wofford College. Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was very active in the VFW, where he was a member of the Cootie Branch. Mr. Jenkins was also active at umpiring baseball at many levels of the game.

Survivors include a sister, Judith Rebecca Durham of Radford, Va.; three brothers, Donald M. Jenkins and Richard F. Jenkins&bsp; of Charlotte and Michael E. Jenkins of Boone, N.C.; a sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Jenkins was predeceased by three brothers, William C. Jenkins, Robert Lee Jenkins Jr. and Tommy Fowler Jenkins.

Graveside services were held Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Rosemont Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Gary Byrd.
