Parkland outrage should be directed at law enforcement, not the NRA

The National Rifle Association, millions of law abiding gun owners, and the Second Amendment had absolutely nothing to do with the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting on Feb. 14.

The killer Nikolas Cruz sent dozens of red flags — over a span of years — to the Broward County school system, Broward County law enforcement, Broward County Social Services, and the FBI, which indicated he was unstable, dangerous and wanted to become a school shooter.

It was the failures by the Broward County government that provided Cruz with a clean rap sheet, and thus an open door to procure guns.

With dead students and adults still on the school building floor, the radical left and Sheriff Israel rushed to the nearest microphone and TV camera to immediately politicize this horrific event and lay blame — with prejudice and no facts — toward the NRA, millions of law abiding gun owners and the Second Amendment.

What ghoulish and irresponsible behavior — but they do not care.

“Never let a crisis go to waste” is a core principle of the radical left, and they are gleefully using the Parkland tragedy to advance their longtime hatred for the NRA, millions of law abiding gun owners, and the Second Amendment, regardless of the truth.

The NRA promotes gun responsibility, gun safety, the rule of law, and defends the U.S. Constitution. The NRA supports responsible and reasonable laws that make sure the wrong folks are not able to buy and own a gun. They always have.

The NRA has no decision-making roles in Broward County’s government or the FBI. The NRA does not oversee the background check system — the FBI and state law enforcement do. The NRA did not initiate the Obama Promise Program, which advocates looking the other way regarding juvenile crime in Broward County. The NRA is not a producer of violent video games and Hollywood films that glorify endless killings with mega weapons.

Fourteen children and three adults were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school because dozens of pathetic Broward County government and FBI incompetents — in a position to do something — instead did nothing.
