She is survived by her brother, Julius A. Shanklin and his wife Mary Lou and their family (Ian with Eliah and Quinn and Alex with Zuri.) Conyers leaves many friends, especially Elizabeth Hicks, of Hendersonville, N.C.

Conyers kept up with friends from all parts of her life from high school, to the Kappa Delta Sorority, and her many charities. She was an avid and enthusiastic gardener. She enjoyed pottery, painting and opera. She was a dedicated volunteer at St. Luke’s Auxiliary, Steps to Hope, The Saluda Library, the Democratic party, Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, and Dorcas Ministries.

Conyers attended Raleigh public schools and graduated from St. Mary’s College, Raleigh; UNC Chapel Hill and The University of Connecticut School of Social Work.

She cared deeply for all and will be sorely missed.
