Incoming Polk County Schools superintendent Aaron H. Greene announced Thursday that Ronette Dill has been selected as the district’s next director of Curriculum and Instruction.

 

Dill, principal of Saluda Elementary School since 2005, will fill the position currently held by Greene when he officially becomes Polk County Schools’ superintendent on August 1, replacing William J. Miller, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

 

“We are pleased to announce Ronette Dill will be joining our central office staff as the new director of Curriculum and Instruction for Polk County Schools,” Greene said. “Mrs. Dill has been a proven, dedicated and respected educator serving students and families in Polk County for many years. We are excited Mrs. Dill will bring her experience, expertise, and enthusiasm to this new role.”

 

Greene said the process to select a new principal for Saluda Elementary will begin immediately. Dill has been part of Polk County Schools since 1991, when she joined the staff at Saluda Elemntary as a first grade teacher. She later taught middle school mathematics in Saluda before becoming the elementary school’s principal.

 

Dill was named the Western Region Principal of the Year in 2009 and led Saluda Elementary to a National Blue Ribbon School award in 2012 and High Performance School Recognition in 2014-2015.

 

“It has been an honor to serve the Saluda community as teacher and principal over the past 25 years,” Dill said. “The tremendous support provided by fellow educators, parents and community members has created within me a strong belief that positive relationships within a school community can create an environment where all students flourish.

 

“In my new role as director of Curriculum and Instruction, my primary goal will be to work collaboratively with school-level administrators and teachers to help ensure every Polk County student has the opportunity to participate in meaningful, high-quality academic experiences, which will prepare them for a successful future.”

 

A graduate of Mars Hill College who received her master’s degree and educational specialist’s degree from Converse College, Dill holds professional educator licenses in K-6 elementary education, middle grades mathematics, principal (K-12) and curriculum instructional specialist.

 

“I am grateful for this opportunity and am deeply committed to working with Polk County’s Board of Education and Mr. Greene as we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of our students in Polk County,” Dill said.
