The Pisgah Chapter of Trout Unlimited held an all-day fly fishing school at Harmon Field on the Pacolet River for 21 students last Saturday. Students learned how to cast their fly fishing rods, how to tie various knots on their fishing lines, and stream tactics. These students will then take the knowledge they gained from the day school and venture out for a half-day session on one of the area’s trout rich rivers or streams. All proceeds from the school helped support Trout Unlimited’s education and environmental programs across Western North Carolina. The organization is dedicated to the conservation, protection and restoration of cold-water fisheries and their watersheds in WNC. (Photo by Michael O’Hearn)
