A week off might have been the tonic, as Polk County’s varsity baseball team scored five in the first inning, added six in the third, and plated a final run in the top of the seventh, to defeat Avery County, 12-7, on Tuesday, April 19.

The Western Highlands Conference win put the Wolverines at 5-11 overall, and 2-5 in the WHC.

At 4:30 this afternoon, the Wolverines visit Hendersonville at Green Meadows, near Jackson Park. It’s varsity only, as was Thursday evening’s game against the Asheville Trailblazers at Blue Ridge Community College.
