Dear Mr./Mrs. President

To the editor:

Did you know that 75 percent of seniors live solely on Social Security?  Probably not.  And did you know that these seniors might not eat, or might have to reduce their meds, or more than likely will not be able to buy gas for their cars at least one week in every four months of the year?  Probably not.  Understandable.  I didn’t know that little hidden fact either.  That is until I became a senior living solely on Social Security.

We ‘monthly dollar challenged’ seniors receive our hard-earned stipend from the government once a month, every forth Wednesday as in our case.  Twelve months equals 48 weeks.  However, there are 52 weeks in every year.  And four months in every year there are five weeks.  One week in each of those four months we elders go without.

All government employees, including the military, receive their paychecks every two weeks.  That simple two-week paycheck eliminates the five-week months.

We have a large voting populous to tap into this voting season. Please rethink the current system.  I suggest you update this archaic method and honor us seniors with an equal playing field by paying us every two weeks.  Dear Mr./Mrs. President, you could do the right thing by being the right person.
