Joyce “Polly” Conner, 74, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.

Known to most as “Aunt Polly,” she was born in Polk County, N.C. and was the daughter of the late John and Marjorie Walker Conner. She was preceded in death by a brother John Neil Conner and two sisters, Betty Burgess and Patricia C. Taylor.

Polly served as a Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy. In her younger days, she was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time fishing. She loved spending time with her family and was always up for a good game of cards. Polly had a big space in her heart for dogs and leaves behind her beloved dog Ginger.

Polly is survived by four sisters: Geraldine Harris of Mooresboro, N.C.; Ina Contance of Columbus, N.C.; Ellen Taylor of Brevard, N.C.; and Ruth Brown of New Mexico; and two brothers, Pickens Conner of Georgia, and Neb Conner, of Lynn, N.C. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A visitation and gathering of friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C.
