The ski and snowboard team at Polk County High School had another amazing turnout to compete at Maggie Valley’s Cataloochee Ski Resort. We had 20 team members this year who competed in the NASTAR downhill skiing and snowboarding races every Wednesday night for eight weeks against 14 other schools in the surrounding counties.

At the conclusion of the season during finals races on Sunday, Feb. 28, Bailey Livesay was named MVP and the fastest male snowboarder overall. Polk County Middle School student Jackson Geddings was named the third fastest male snowboarder overall.

It is a growing club at Polk County High School. We also had students from Rutherford County and Polk County Middle School join us because it is not offered in their schools. The club is open to any and all students who are willing to race. Students interested for the 2017 season can contact club sponsor Carrie Baris at PCHS.
