Have a HeArt for Big Brothers Big Sisters, was once again warmly supported by artists and community. The works of more than 70 area artists were contributed for the annual fundraiser for BBBS.

The Upstairs Artspace was the host venue for this silent auction for Big Brothers Big Sisters during their first shows of 2015. Guests arrived for the opening reception in January to view the art displayed, then many returned to place bids on their favorite HeArts through the closing bids event in February.

Each year participating artists donate wonderful pieces that undoubtedly tempt viewers, for they are irresistible. As bids climbed, excitement built. Those fortunate enough to win HeArts or receive them as gifts are sure to appreciate such treasures.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is delighted with the enthusiasm this project generates among area artists and supporters. It’s a win-win situation, as winners collect a special premium while contributing to a worthy cause.

Considering the intention of Have a HeArt to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs for area children, all involved responded with a tremendously generous spirit. BBBS is very grateful to all the artists, bidders, sponsors, volunteers, and to the Upstairs Artspace, its members and staff. Special recognition goes to Big Sister Sue Anderson and her Little Sister Nathalie, whose catering for the closing was again impressive and thoroughly enjoyed by guests.

Many artists are already looking forward to tapping their creative instincts for next year’s event, including Bob Neely. Fortunately for BBBS, Neely has a hard time holding back on producing his fabulous creations for the project, and has already begun producing artwork for the next round of HeArts. Anticipation!
