Emma Louise (Lou) Huddleston Wood, 92, died peacefully on Wednesday evening, Feb. 3, 2016.

Born October 9, 1923 in Jasper, Tenn., Lou was the daughter of Henry Harold Huddleston and Emma Elvira Woodall Huddleston.

Lou was a wonderful mother who leaves behind two sons and four daughters: Patrick H. Wood (Katrina) of Warner Robins, Ga., Pamela W. Hesse (Tommy) and Paige W. Gamble (Jim), both of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Priscilla W. Santos (Carroll III) of Elon, N.C., Dr. Paula L. Wood of Saluda, N.C. and Philip L. Wood (Lisa) of St. Marys, Ga.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Wood, her parents, and her siblings, Harold Huddleston, Kathleen Joyner, Sadie Burgess and Mary Ann McMurray.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 604 Pitt Street Saturday, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., where Lou was a member for 55 years, on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. Please visit with the family afterwards in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Interment will be private.
