Recently these employees, representing the western North Carolina towns of Boone, Asheville, South Asheville and Shelby, were participating in a community service project. They helped prepare and serve lunch to the Polk Baptist Association Care Kitchen attendees.

Seated are regular Care Kitchen volunteers Angie Levi (right) and Eloise Thwing (left) who were relieved of duties that day due to the generosity of the Verizon team.

Nearly in its fourth year of operation, the PBA Care Kitchen continues to serve anyone a delicious meal and great fellowship on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Polk Baptist Association building, located at 208 Blanton St., Columbus.

The kitchen follows local school closings in inclement weather.
