Carolyn Denton Shehan, 64, of Landrum, S.C. passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 25, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville, N.C.

Born in Tryon, N.C., she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth McAbee Denton. Mrs. Shehan retired from St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus, N.C. after 42 years of service as a nurse. She was a member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Shehan was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Surviving is her loving husband of 45 years, Jessie Mack Shehan; one sister, Wanda Wilson (Pat) of Mill Spring, N.C.; two brothers, Bill Denton (Darlene) of Mill Spring, N.C. and Bobby Denton of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; sister-in-law, Dayle O’Ham of Wilson, N.C. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and the apple of her eye, her dogs, Zoe and Zach.

A funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Rev. Keith Stott and Rev. Robert Orr officiating.

The family received friends prior to the service Sunday from 1-2:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.
