Polk County Transportation announces launch of the Foothills Express

Published 8:05 pm Wednesday, November 4, 2015

The Foothills Express is finally here! Beginning Nov. 9, 2015, residents and visitors alike can get to and from Mill Spring, Columbus, and Tryon by hopping on a Polk County Transportation bus at various set stops along Hwy. 108. Buses are lift equipped and have bike racks. And, as an added convenience, the bus driver can be directed by dispatch to deviate up to a half-mile mile from the set route for pick-ups and drop-offs.  Call the office by 12:30 p.m. for same day service.

The Foothills Express route will initially run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule will be expanded as needed in response to future demand.  There is a cost to ride, and passes for unlimited weekly and monthly rides may be purchased at the PCT office in Columbus. Discount passes are available to veterans and anyone 60 years or older. For more information, please contact Polk County Transportation at 894-8203 or pctanc@gmail.com.

In addition to The Foothills Express, PCT offers many ongoing transit services including airport arrivals and departures (Asheville, Greenville/Spartanburg, Charlotte), out-of-county medical and other appointments, and a Hendersonville Shopping Shuttle every Friday. We look forward to serving you!
